Adult Museum Tours

Museum Tours can accommodate up to 50 people at one time. (Please note that large groups will be split into two groups for a better listening experience.)

Please reserve your tour at least 2 weeks in-advance.

Programs are offered Wednesday through Sunday.

Museum Tours– $5.00 per Person

Walking Tours– $7.00 per Person

Step-on Tours– $7.00 per Person


Outreach Programs

Additional $0.50 per mile for location beyond a 5 mile radius of the museum.

Speaker Fee– $50.00 per presentation

Museum of Frederick County History

Length: 30 or 60 minutes | Guided or Self-Guided Tour

Frederick County has a rich history for visitors to explore. The museum is set in a 1820’s historic mansion that for much of its history served as a girls’ orphanage. The museum provides a new perspective on the history of mid-Maryland and the nation, from the Colonial period, through the Civil War, to the Cold War era.  It features rotating exhibitions that highlight various stories of Frederick County’s past through its vast museum collections and loans from private collectors.


Adult Group Program Reservations

  • Complete the online form
  • A confirmation and invoice will be sent to you upon receipt of your program request.
  • Please note walking tours are limited to 60 people per tour time. If your group has more than 60 people, you will need to schedule staggering tour times.
  • Groups must have at least 10 people to qualify for the group rate.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellations should be made in at least 72 hours before the tour. We will make every attempt to reschedule the tour. Deposits are not refundable if the tour is canceled within less than 72 hours. If we must cancel a program due to extreme circumstances such as weather, we will contact you as soon as possible. Although rescheduling is not always possible, we will make every effort to do so. In the event that Heritage Frederick cancels a tour you will receive a full refund.
