No signers of the Declaration of Independence were born in Frederick County, but a piece of our community is nonetheless inscribed on the founding document of our nation! As we mark the 250th Anniversary of the United States in 2026, Heritage Frederick invites you to spend a day exploring Carrollton Manor on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Discover the history of Charles Carroll of Carrollton and the role his family played in overseeing Carrollton Manor in southeastern Frederick County. Learn about the many people that have inhabited and worked on the Manor throughout its history. Explore the legacy of this “unjustly neglected” Founder, the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, and his connections to Frederick County.
Heritage Frederick and partner organizations are excited to invite you to a full day of programs, informative displays, and tours on October 24th. Our host location is Saint Joseph’s on Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, located at 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, MD 21703.
