Visit the Research Center
We welcome everyone interested in Frederick County history to visit our Archives and Research Center. Heritage Frederick offers our vast archival collections and an extensive library to support your genealogical, property, or general historical research.
We are open by appointment, please contact our Archivist to schedule your visit. Appointments are generally available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 10:30am and 4:30pm.

The Heritage Frederick Archives and Research Center is located in the lower level of the Museum of Frederick County History at:
24 East Church Street
Frederick, MD 21701
The Research Center is only accessible by stairs. If you are unable to traverse the stairs, we will arrange to have materials brought to an accessible space in the museum.
Fees and Services:
There is no charge to schedule an appointment at the Research Center.
If you wish to have the assistance of our staff during your visit to aid your review of research materials, this can be arranged at a cost of $25.00 per hour.
Photocopies may be obtained at $0.50 per page.
Digitization of materials from the Archives or Library can be ordered using our Photo Reproduction Form.
Rules for Use of the Research Center:
- No food or drink may be brought to the table where Archival or Library resources are in use. Water in a covered container is allowed.
- You may use your phone or a camera to take images of materials for your personal use.
- The Research Center staff/volunteers reserve the right to require the storage of large bags or purses in a cabinet near the entrance.
- Pens may not be used at the Research Center table in proximity to Archival or Library resources.
