1 Program: Basic Field Trip-  $3.00 per student

2 Programs (in one day): Combo Field Trip-  $4.50 per student

Chaperones-  Free (5 to 7 student ratio)

Additional Chaperones– $3.00 each

Weather Policy

  • Walking tours will run rain or shine.
  • Please come prepared with a jacket for each participant on cooler days and water bottles for each participant on warmer days.

 *Tours will only be cancelled during extreme weather conditions such as excessive heat warnings or severe thunderstorms.

Historic Frederick Walking Tour

Length: 90 minutes | Grade: 6th-12th

 The past will come alive as students explore the rich heritage of downtown Frederick. Guides introduce important moments in American history through the eyes of our local residents, including Frederick’s participation in a rebellion against England’s Stamp Act in 1765, Frederick’s welcoming of General Lafayette in 1824, and the use of Frederick’s buildings as hospitals during the Civil War.


Civil War Walking Tour

Length: 90 minutes | Grade: 6th-12th

Delve into what Frederick was like 150 years ago, during the Confederacy’s third and final invasion into the North, when Jubal Early ransomed Frederick during the Battle of Monocacy.


African American History Walking Tour

Length: 90 minutes  | Grade: 8th-12th

From the 19th century to the 20th century Frederick’s South Bentz Street and All Saints Street neighborhood was the cultural and civic center for Frederick County’s African American community. Explore some of the city’s outstanding sites, people, and events through a guided tour.


Art & Architecture Walking Tour

Length: 90 minutes  | Grade: 8th-12th

Look at Frederick with new eyes. Experience the history and beauty of downtown as we explore some of the popular architectural styles, local art and history.

  • A confirmation and invoice will be sent to you upon receipt of your program request.
  • Please note walking tours are limited to 60 students per tour time. If your group has more than 60 students, you will need to schedule either staggering tour times or multiple days for all of your students.
