Providing students with valuable career experiences in a variety of disciplines
A professional museum and/or library staff supervises all internship projects. Every effort is made to match your education, experiences, talents and career goals with projects that will help interns to broaden their knowledge with in the museum/library field.
Museum Education Internship
For students interested in both informal and formal education will assist the museum education staff in granting meaningful learning opportunities for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Projects may include:
- Leading tours for all ages
- Assist with in-class school programs
- Adult and family program development
- Assist with volunteer enrichment programs
Research Services Internship
Students interested in the field of library science will have the chance to assist library staff in offering patron services to the public.
Projects may include:
- Assisting visitors with locating library materials
- Offering reference inquiry support
- Conducting research services for off-site requests


Archival Internship
Students looking to advance their skills and knowledge in archival studies will have the opportunity to work with the archival and library staff with collection management and providing patron services.
Projects may include:
- Processing and preserving manuscripts, maps, photographs and other historical documents
- Updating library databases
- Assisting with research requests

High School
All interns in this program will take the General Museum/Library Internship, which will help to provide a foundation for college and career goals. This program fulfills the high school internship credit requirements. Schedules are flexible and will be set between the intern and their direct supervisor.
Undergraduate & Graduate
All internships listed are available in this program and may be used toward class credit, based on the requirements of your college.
Schedules will be set between the intern and their direct supervisor, but interns are expected to work at least 6 hours a week.
Experience
All internships listed are available in this program. For individuals who have already graduated college and would like to gain experience in the field.
Schedules are flexible and will be set between the intern and their direct supervisor.
